Remember when some of you wanted Howie Roseman fired? It seems like that was ten years ago, doesn't it? Frankly, it has been a while. This conversation dates back to debates about whether he or Doug Pederson was Philly's biggest problem.
We've come a long way since then. We've seen four full seasons of Nick Sirianni. A.J. Brown, DeVonta Smith, and Saquon Barkley have joined the team. Howie pushed all of the buttons to make that happen.
He drafted DeVonta. He added A.J. by way of a draft-night trade. Saquon was a free-agency acquisition. Most importantly, the Birds have qualified for two Super Bowls in three NFL seasons. They won their second on February 9th.
But, what comes next? What's the next move? One of the more popular NFL platforms suggests they move on from what might be the lone roster mistake they made last offseason.
For The Win projects the Eagles will trade Bryce Huff to the NFC South's Atlanta Falcons.
As strange as this sounds, it's honest. Two statements that seemingly contradict one another can both be true. Here's an example.
We're ecstatic about seeing our Birds place another Lombardi Trophy in the trophy case, but we're sad there won't be an Eagles game to watch this coming Sunday.
That means all eyes shift to the offseason, and For The Win's Cory Woodroof cooked up a good one to get us started, 25 NFL predictions for the 2025 offseason, including where Sam Darnold lands. He makes three predictions Birds fans will find to be intriguing.
Myles Garrett lands with the Washington Commanders. Milton Williams leaves Philly and signs with the Cardinals, but how about this one? Bryce Huff is traded to the Atlanta Falcons.
"The Philadelphia Eagles made Huff inactive for the 2025 Super Bowl, which means a parting of the ways might be near. Huff reuniting with his New York Jets defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich makes a lot of sense, as Atlanta has a clear need at the position.
The Eagles could get the contract off the books, while the Falcons could try to revive the version of Huff that posted 10 sacks in 2023."
We mentioned Howie Roseman earlier. One of the reasons fans and some of the media grew weary with him years ago was he handed out some bad contracts. He also was held responsible for some bad draft decisions.
Howie has turned it around. Philly's past four draft classes include Landon Dickerson and Milton Williams (2021), Jordan Davis and Cam Jurgens (2022), Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith (2023), Quinyon Mitchell (2024) and Cooper DeJean (also in 2024).
Philly found some solid roles players as well. Check out some of the other guys added during those drafts: Kenneth Gainwell, Nakobe Dean, Grant Calcaterra, Tyler Steen, Sydney Brown, Tanner McKee, Jalyx Hunt, Jeremiah Trotter Jr, and Will Shipley. All contributed to Philly winning this most recent Super Bowl.
One could argue that acquiring Huff was the lone massive mistake on Howie's resume as of late. If the Birds could shed his deal and get something for him, no one would complain.
We shouldn't shed too many tears over Howie rolling the dice though. He used the same train of thought while taking chances on Saquon Barkley and Zack Baun. The success he found in doing so more than compensates for the error in seemingly striking out on Bryce Huff.
