Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley had a first half to remember in their Week 8 matchup against the New York Giants.
It all started on his first run of the game on the opening drive for the Eagles. Barkley did his signature 65-yard touchdown run to give the Eagles a 7-0 lead over the Giants. That was his longest run of the year.
Barkley continued his success as it was clear that Eagles offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo wanted to hand the ball off to Barkley early and often. Not only that, but Barkley was a factor in the passing game as well.
In the second quarter with the Eagles in the red zone, Hurts found Barkley in the flats for an easy touchdown catch. That gave the Giants a 14-7 lead.
At the end of the half, Barkley has rushed for 107 yards on 10 carries and a touchdown, also catching four passes for 24 yards and another score. This is the first time all year that Barkley has run for over 100 yards in a game.
What the Eagles need to do in the second half to keep up the success
It's really as simple as just keep giving the ball to Barkley. They have had success with the stretch plays on the left side of the line. Jordan Mailata and Landon Dickerson are solid starters on the left side of the offensive line and make it easy for the Eagles to get some running lanes.
The Eagles had success with the screen game when passing it, so it might not hurt to get it to Barkley that way. Anyway, the Eagles can get the ball in his hand, and it is always a recipe for success.

Even with a 21-10 halftime lead, the Eagles still have to finish the game strong and find a way to play all four quarters. Barkley will be able to help with that.
