The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off the weekend in the right way, as they saw their opponents fumble in Week 8 away.
Starting things off, the Eagles dominated the New York Giants 38-20 to improve to 6-2 on the season and stayed on top of the NFC East entering their bye week. New York had a rough go at it after losing their emerging star rookie running back Cam Skattebo to an ugly dislocated ankle in the game.
Later in the day, the Dallas Cowboys ran into a wall that the Eagles and Giants have also run into, suffering a blowout loss to the Denver Broncos. Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott had an unusually rough game with zero touchdowns and two interceptions as his team fell under .500 once again.
Ending the division's week was the banged-up Washington Commanders getting blown out on the road against the Kansas City Chiefs 28-7. Commanders star Jayden Daniels did not play in the game, which caused the offense to struggle mightily.
Where does the NFC East stand with Eagles entering the bye week
The good news for the Eagles is that they are in a solid position to run away with the division, as they lead the division.
- Philadelphia Eagles (6-2)
- Dallas Cowboys (3-4-1)
- Washington Commanders (3-5)
- New York Giants (2-6)
It's clear the Eagles have a significant advantage with a three-game lead in the division and hold the tiebreaker over the Cowboys, having beaten them 24-20 in Week 1. That doesn't mean things are going to get easier for Philly over the second half of the season.
They start the week after the bye week with games against the Green Bay Packers on the road and the Detroit Lions at home. After that, it's a second showdown with the Cowboys and a Black Friday matchup with the Chicago Bears.

Philly will still be the favorites to win the division, but this is the part of the schedule that will get increasingly difficult. They have multiple back-to-back road game weeks and still have to face top teams. The Eagles will be tested big time if they want to get back on top of the NFC and win the division.
