Truth be told, we haven't paid much attention to what the New York Jets have recently done. Watching Aaron Rodgers go down last season in Week 1 was where we lost interest. Then, we had to watch the Philadelphia Eagles' loss to NY at MetLife Stadium several weeks later. Yeah... We thought we had our fill of them for a while, but then some news broke early on Tuesday.

Well, this was unexpected... sort of. At one point, we thought now that Rodgers is healthy Robert Saleh might be in trouble if the Jets disappoint, but we never thought they'd make a head-coaching change after five weeks of the regular season.

Obviously, we were wrong.

News breaks of Robert Saleh's firing, and an Eagles starter seemingly gloats on a now-deleted social media post.

Several sources including ESPN's Adam Schefter have reported Robert Saleh has been dismissed by the Jets. He had one more year remaining on his deal after this season. New York's defensive coordinator Jeff Ulbrich will serve as interim head coach until further notice.

One would think Saleh won't have any issues finding a new job down the road. Heck. we'd gladly welcome the idea of the Eagles swapping him out for Vic Fangio.

There's just one issue with that theory. It appears one Eagles starter wouldn't be pleased with his former head coach's addition.

Saleh and Mekhi Becton have some history, and the latter seemingly threw a little shade at Coach Saleh in a now-deleted post.

Again, Saleh and Becton have had their issues. Last May comes to mind. Saleh stated there was an open competition across several spots of the Jets' O-line. Becton responded with a tweet.

"I. AM. A. LEFT. TACKLE!!!"

Becton later deleted the tweet, but Saleh had no issues offering a response.

"Go earn the left tackle (spot)". That about sums it up, right? Things seemingly died down after that, but we'd assume Becton's recent social media post was birthed from some hard feelings.

Becton played four games in 2023. One year later, he's in Philly. It appears his and Saleh's fences still need some mending, but we'd advise that no one hold their breath.

Oh well... On to Week 6 and the Cleveland Browns.
