Even after trading for EDGE Jaelen Phillips, Bleacher Report's Kristopher Knox believes that the Philadelphia Eagles could make a push for a possible Hall of Famer this offseason.
Knox thinks that Howie Roseman will wave his magic wand and make a push for Khalil Mack, possibly to a one-year $16 million deal this offseason.
"Chargers pass-rusher Khalil Mack will turn 35 in February and may only command one-year contracts for the rest of his playing career. However, he remains a legitimate difference-maker when healthy.
He missed time with a dislocated elbow early this season. However, he worked his way back onto the field and has logged eight tackles, three sacks and four quarterback hits in five games.
While Mack may not make his 10th Pro Bowl this season, he's going to interest contenders in the offseason. He reached 17 sacks just two seasons ago."
Could Mack actually make an impact on the Eagles in 2026?
Mack is set to turn 35 this February, making him the elder statesman of the Eagles' youthful defense. Despite dealing with injuries, Mack remains a formidable defender and an elite pass rusher when healthy, registering a 17-sack season in 2023.
Mack has dealt with injuries this season, specifically a dislocated elbow; however is still putting together a solid season nonetheless. He's registered three sacks, four quarterback hits, and eight tackles through five games so far.
While the Eagles would love to remain relatively youthful, they have called upon "elder statesmen" in Za'Darius Smith and Brandon Graham. The Eagles' pass rush has been comparatively anemic this year. In years past, he could have utilized Mack to take a "Von Miller"-esque role for the final years of his career.
The team is set to see Azeez Ojulari and Josh Uche as free agents, along with Brandon Graham, who is always a possibility to call it quits after the season.
