Eagles vs. Ravens slugfest births emotional roller-coaster ride on social media
When the first quarter of the Philadelphia Eagles vs. Baltimore Ravens game ended, Philly was on pace for 24 penalties and 20 yards passing. Things had gone that bad. Thankfully, they were able to turn things around during the second quarter.
After a nice Braden Mann punt pinned the Ravens back against their own goal line. Philly's defense forced a three-and-out and a Ravens punt. A nice offensive drive ended with a Dallas Goedert TD reception.
Kellen Moore has to do something to get his quarterback and offense comfortable early. This Eagles team never panics though, and after their sloppiest start since the bye week, four punts to end their first four drives, they took control scoring two second-quarter TDs.
You can certainly imagine what happened next.
An emotional and sometimes venomous roller-coaster ride was birthed on the Eagles' social media threads.
No one panics like Birds fans and the Philadelphia media. You didn't think they'd watch a slow start and do so quietly, did you? We found some of the more G-rated commentary. Thank us later. There's no need to put the kids to bed early here.
Thankfully, the emotional health of Eagles Nation won't need to be examined (for now). Philly walked into the locker room at halftime leading by a 14-12 margin. Seeing a better effort helped heal some of the agony.
Some of the angst even shifted over to Tony Romo.
No one expected a cakewalk in Baltimore. The Ravens, as they often are, can credit themselves as being legitimate Super Bowl contenders.
From now on, here's what we'd recommend though. Maybe the Eagles should just pretend the second quarter is the first quarter. Maybe that will lead to faster starts.
We haven't reached panic mode yet, but we're getting older. If we're being honest, the cardiac ball is tough to watch sometimes.
