Eagles vs. Steelers fisticuffs spark Philly after some early struggles
The Philadelphia Eagles' offense has shown a little life today... And, it has shown life in the first quarter. Before Week 15's game vs. the Pittsburgh Steelers, they had only scored 17 points during the first stanza all season. They scored ten during the first quarter vs. their cross-state rivals.
You may have heard though. They didn't make it easy on themselves. Thank Heaven for defense and Steelers personal foul penalties.
The Eagles lose two fumbles but are sparked by a Steelers personal foul penalty.
Philly's first quarter vs. Pittsburgh was an up-and-down affair. They had taken better care of the ball as of late but lost two fumbles in the span of a minute or so. Jalen Hurts put the football on the turf during a scramble. Cooper DeJean was separated from the ball during a punt return.
Philly's top-ranked defense forced a three-and-out and punt after the Jalen Hurts fumble. Some fisticuffs led to a Steelers personal foul penalty which would eventually help stall Pittsburgh's drive.
Then, the Eagles' offense went off. Consecutive drives led to TD passes from Jalen Hurts to A.J. Brown AND DeVonta Smith.... And, a Kid N Play kickstep by QB1 and Brown. Don't forget that on the stat sheet.
It appears the Eagles' passing game has been fixed. It looks like the guys are getting along. Oh, and by the way, both scores followed a SUCCESSFUL Jake Elliott field goal.
The Steelers offense didn't notch a single first down suring the game's first 15 minutes. We've said all that to say this. These are the types of showings (minus the turnovers) that we know the Birds are capable of.
The hometown crowd is having some fun today after a stressful game vs. the Carolina Panthers in Week 14.
