The last piece of the puzzle to the Philadelphia Eagles-Detroit Lions game before the potential NFC Championship preview matchup begins came in, and it's all bad news for Eagles running back A.J. Dillon.

Philly released their Week 11 inactive list with five players being included. The former Green Bay Packers running back was included on the list.

  • A.J. Dillon, RB
  • Sam Howell, Third QB
  • Mac McWilliams, CB
  • Drew Kendall, OL
  • Ty Robinson, DT

Dillon has not shown up in an Eagles game since their first matchup against the New York Giants, where he muffed a kickoff return and fumbled on offense within a few plays of each other. He's rushed for 60 yards and added 18 receiving yards on the season.

Dillon might end up being a one and done player on the Eagles

During the second Giants matchup, the Eagles found their true number two running back, Tank Bigsby, after rushing for over 100 yards in the win. The Eagles also have Will Shipley in the backfield, who has shown some nice plays.

Dillon originally signed a one-year contract with the Eagles, and it might end up being his only season. Shipley was drafted by the Eagles, and Philly traded to have Bigsby, and has since proven himself as a solid runner for the Birds.

It's a disappointment to Eagles fans, as there were high hopes for Dillon potentially being the downhill runner while Saquon Barkley could be the speed breakaway guy. That never materialized, and whether some want to blame that on Kevin Patullo's play calling or the lack of consistency on the offensive line, it just didn't work.

Even with Dillon's time is nearing its end with the Eagles, the Birds at least have a solid backfield to work with in the future.
