Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman and longtime radio host Mike Golic knows as well as anyone how special it was to see quarterback Randall Cunningham and Hall of Fame defensive end Reggie White play in their respective primes, and he is never going to turn down an opportunity to proselytize about these two individuals.

In an exclusive interview with FanSided on behalf of Dexcom, Golic took time to remind the younger generation of what unique supernovas both Cunningham and White were. In Golic's words, Cunningham was the forerunner of mobile quarterbacks like Jalen Hurts and Lamar Jackson.

"He was Lamar [Jackson] before Lamar," Golic said. "In an era where I played against Phil Simms and Troy Aikman and other pocket passing quarterbacks, Randall was kind of the exception to the rule. Now, pocket-passers are the exception to the rule." Golic also took this time to share a story about how much of a physical marvel White was.

"Reggie, I watched him at 315 pounds run a 4.6 40," Golic said. "We did a bench press test at 315 pounds for reps, he did like 14 or 15 reps. An offensive lineman came in and did more than him, and was considered stronger than Reggie. We started mocking Reggie after he had done his lift, he came back in, did the lift again, and beat that offensive lineman. He was the strongest, quickest big man I ever played with."

White may be the greatest defensive player in NFL history, and he certainly is the best on that side in Eagles history. With 198 sacks (second all-time) to his name and a reputation as the best run-stuffing defensive end ever, White was a freak of nature who may never see his accomplishments duplicated.

Cunningham, who has three MVP runner-up finishes in his storied career, not only came a few ticks shy of running for 1,000 yards in a season, but he had three straight seasons of at least 3,400 passing yards and 20 touchdowns despite poor receiver and offensive line play. He could bend like Mister Fantastic and throw a ball like a javelin 80 yards down the field.

While the Eagles were unable to break through and get these stars any championships, those who saw them at the peak of their powers are well aware of the type of force they were. Golic got to see an all-time quarterback talent and the best end ever up close and personal.
