Facing Andy Reid isn't the only uncomfortable Eagles reunion at the Super Bowl

If the Eagles lose a Super Bowl to a team led by Andy Reid, a team rostering Carson Wentz, we may never recover.

It's funny how things work out. Once upon a time, the Philadelphia Eagles traded up (twice if we aren't mistaken). The goal was to grab their franchise QB... Well, they got him. Unfortunately, things don't always work out as you think they should. Or, maybe it's the other thing. Maybe things work out exactly how they were supposed to. Welcome to the curious case of Carson Wentz.

Things started fairly well. They didn't end as we had hoped, but you can't argue with how well things were going in the beginning. Carson was paired with Philly's head coach Doug Pederson, a former Eagles signal-caller himself.

A recommendation for the latter's hire was given by, of all people, the winningest coach in Birds history.

Have you heard? The Eagles face Andy Reid in the Super Bowl again.

Andy Reid spent 14 years in the City of Brotherly Love as the team's head coach. Perhaps you have heard. There was a lot of winning going on, but the Birds didn't win a Super Bowl to validate it.

He's now spent a dozen years in Kansas City with the Chiefs, and even though his understudy (Pederson) eventually led Philly to its first Vince Lombardi Trophy, Big Red has led the Chiefs to three Super Bowl wins.

The worst part of all of that is this. One can argue he won those Super Bowls doing everything we complained he could never do here... He also beat the Birds in Super Bowl LVII.

This game, Super Bowl LIX, is all about finishing the story. It's about beating Andy Reid...

But, this game is also about beating Carson Wentz...

The Eagles CAN'T lose to Carson Wentz. They just can't!

One of the lesser-mentioned but equally as fascinating subplots of Super Bowl LIX involves a backup quarterback. Yes... A backup quarterback!

When Philly takes the field on Super Bowl Sunday, Carson Wentz will be standing on the other sideline. Yes... We're talking about the same Carson Wentz Philly drafted with the second overall selection in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Yes, this is the same Carson Wentz I personally have called spoiled, coddled, and weak-minded. The same Carson Wentz who lost his job as QB1 of the Philadelphia Eagles and left because he believed a starting QB job was a lifetime assignment.

He refused to compete to try and win the job back, and every ounce of respect I had left for him left at that moment. Or, at least I thought it did. Looking back now, nothing could be further from the truth.

I'd love to tell you I despise Carson. The truth is I don't. I'll never forget that food truck (Thy Kingdom Crumb). I'll never forget former President Barack Obama's appearance in Philly and the 'hop on board the Wentz Wagon' comment after Carson's 3-0 start in 2016.

The truth is Philly doesn't win that first Super Bowl without him, so we're indebted. We're just also jaded. We were lied to. We were told Carson Wentz would keep us in the Super Bowl conversation. Instead, most of our memories of him involve mini-tantrums and an entitled personality.

Carson thought he was above criticicsm. That's probably because criticism never occurred in North Dakota, but forget all of that. The past is the past.

We've decided to ley bygones be bygones. We're happier with Jalen Hurts anyway, but here's the truth.

The Philadelphia Eagles can't lose another Super Bowl to Andy Reid, and they certainly can't lose a Super Bowl to a team rostering Carson Wentz.

If that offends you or you take any of these statements personally, then, personally, we honestly don't give two shakes.
