Nothing is official until teams announce it. We have learned over time, however, that significant others are very good sources, and former Philadelphia Eagles DB Avonte Maddox's significant other posted something very interesting on her IG story.
Iman Williams, Avonte's longtime partner, may have dropped all we need to convince us he's headed to Detroit.
Well, lookey here! Avonte Maddox's significant other posts a photo of him signing with the Lions on her IG story pic.twitter.com/dbYTMAagiQ

Again, never discredit significant others. They are often the most elite insiders that we can ask for.
Once upon a time we thought the other Eagles DB was headed to the Detroit Lions
Not too long after the Birds vanquished the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, Darius Slay appeared on Amon St, Brown's podcast. Slay admitted he wouldn't be opposed to a reunion with the Detroit Lions.
The man we affectionately referred to as 'Big Play' spent his first seven NFL seasons in the Motor City. He was the first NFL player to intercept Carson Wentz.
That 2017 season ended with a First-Team All-Pro nod for him. He also earned the first of three consecutive Pro Bowl mentions there (and six total nominations), so a reunion for his final NFL season made sense, but he landed in Pittsburgh with the Steelers.
Slay and fellow veteran defensive back James Bradberry were designated as a post-June 1st roster cuts. Maddox wasn't one of the impending free agents the Eagles retained. He's a native of the Motor City, so his return to his roots also makes sense.
We wish him luck with his new team unless, of course, Lions wins conflict with Philly gaining home-field advantage. Also, for understandable reasons, if the Lions are the next opponent on Philadelphia's schedule. we're going to have to give him the cold shoulder.
Maddox leaves the nest after seven Eagles seasons. The knock on him was durability, but he was a very good player when on the field and healthy.
He started 41 of his 81 in-game appearances, He notched over 270 tackles and snagged four career interceptions. The rest of his stat line is as follows: 36 pass breakups, eight forced fumbles, three sacks, and a HUGE pass breakup in Super Bowl 59.
