Former Eagles defender hangs up the cleats after six NFL seasons

Former Philadelphia Eagles linebacker and Temple Owls standout Shaun Bradley has officially announced his retirement.

In his impassioned post on X, Bradley shared a spirited goodbye, including updates on his injuries and gratitude on several fronts, especially for his time wearing an Eagles uniform.

"Thank you to the Philadelphia Eagles for taking a chance on me, Howie and Mr. Lurie. I am Forever grateful to you two, you gave me the dream of a lifetime

To all my Teammates, My coaches, My family, my Fans, and my friends Thank you… thank you for pushin me, thank you for believing in me when I wanted to quit… You all made it worth it.

Most importantly, THANK YOU GOD, without you none of this is possible. “Minute by minute, Hour by hour, you lose your faith, you lose your power. If its meant to be, its up to me, never let it rest, until your good is your better an your better is your best… if god is with me then who shall i fear?

Shaun Bradley retires from football

Faced with mounting injuries over the years, Bradley first suffered a neck injury in 2022, followed by a grueling Achilles injury. Told by doctors in September of 2025 that his neck injury had worsened, Bradley made his decision to call it a day on the gridiron.

Born in Mount Holly, New Jersey, Bradley shone for Rancosas Valley Regional before suiting up for Temple University, where he landed firmly on the NFL draft radar by way of a stellar college career that included 256 tackles, three interceptions, and 22 tackles for loss.

After Philadelphia selected him in the sixth round of the 2020 draft, he enjoyed a solid special teams run while a member of the Eagles' linebackers' unit, totaling 45 tackles in three seasons wearing midnight green. Bradley also spent time with the Houston Texans and, most recently, the Kansas City Chiefs' practice squad this past season.
