A former Philadelphia Eagles defender has decided that he is done with the NFL after six years.

On Instagram, San Francisco 49ers edge rusher Bryce Huff made a video to announce that he is retiring from the NFL. He played his first four years with the New York Jets before playing one year each with the Eagles and 49ers.

Huff played with the Eagles in 2024, their Super Bowl title year, but injuries limited him to 12 games. He racked up 13 tackles, four quarterback hits, three tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble.

Huff had gotten off to a strong start to his career as a 10-sack 2023 season got the Eagles' attention to the point of giving him a three-year, $51.1 million contract. His 2024 season was marred by a wrist injury and a job loss in the second half, before he barely played in the playoffs.

After the season, Huff initially skipped minicamp workouts, which caused quite a stir. That was until the Eagles decided to move on from Huff and trade him away to the 49ers after one bad year.

Huff bounced back decently with the 49ers, recording four sacks in 15 games in San Francisco. His 49ers would knock out the Eagles in the NFC Wild Card.

When people look back at Huff's career, aside from the one season with the Jets, he never lived up to the expectations placed on him. He did play a small role in helping the Eagles claim their second Super Bowl in franchise history, so he does deserve some credit for that.

Huff has moved on from his football career, but he leaves it as a Super Bowl champion with the Philadelphia Eagles.
