Jurgensen started his NFL career with the Eagles as they selected him in the fourth round of the 1957 NFL Draft. He was a backup through his first four years to Bobby Thomason, then the next three to Norm Van Brocklin.
After the Eagles won the NFL Championship in 1960, Jurgensen became the starter for the next three seasons, making the Pro Bowl and earning All-Pro honors in 1961. His next two seasons were rough as he went 4-15-2 as the starter and led the NFL in interceptions in 1962 with 26.
Philly would end up trading Jurgensen to the Washington Commanders in 1964, where he would go on to make four Pro Bowls in 11 years. He finished his career with 32,224 yards and 255 touchdowns to 189 interceptions.
Jurgensen led the NFL in passing yards five times in his career, with two of them being with the Eagles. He was a Pro Bowler five times and an All-Pro twice.
