A lot in the NFL can change in an instance, but once it happens, it can alter the course of a franchise in the short term and the long term.
The New York Giants have reportedly fired head coach Brian Daboll after a 2-8 start and yet another blown 10-point lead in the fourth quarter. Daboll finishes his tenure with a 20-40-1 overall record with only one postseason appearance in four seasons.
Former Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Mike Kafka takes over as the inteirm head coach as he also serves as the offensive coordinator. The Eagles have played the Giants twice this season with New York winning the first one, but losing by 18 in the second matchup.
Eagles fans will miss Daboll after his struggles against Philly
Daboll had struggled during his tenure as the head coach of the Giants versus the Eagles. He went just 2-7 against Philly with the last one being one of the nails in the coffin for the now former head coach.
The Eagles won't be able to see the action upfront anymore with the Giants, but they can at least say they had a part to play in it. New York now enters what looks like a rebuild mode for the franchise with a rookie quarterback Jaxson Dart and a potential rookie star running back Cam Skattebo to build around.
Philly has not had to worry about the Giants being legit contenders in the NFC East for a long time. The Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders have had better success over the last three years than the Giants have had.

Now that the Giants are officially out of it, the Eagles' next focus shifts to the Cowboys and Commanders in the East to take care of and rush their way to a division title hopefully soon,
