It's one of those phrases that isn't foreign to die-hard NFL fans and football historians - Once a raider, always a Raider. For you young bucks who may be confused, it's encompassing of the 'family' feel the Silver and Black prided itself on. There's never really been a 'Once a Bird, always a Bird' narrative. Maybe it doesn't have the same ring, but maybe the Philadelphia Eagles should consider drafting one.
Most of us, if we're being honest, typically keep one eye on our squad and the other eye on most of what former Birds are doing. Last season, Haason Reddick was one of the more intriguing non-Philly-sports stories for obvious reasons. Now, look, he has found a new home.
Haason Reddick signs a one-year deal with longtime Eagles nemesis, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Can I share some radical honesty? I absolutely HATE the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. No, seriously, I still boo Ronde Barber every time I see him. Maybe it was the Warren Sapp thing. Maybe it was that final home game at Veterans Stadium.
I was there, and honestly, I still think a part of me was lost that day.
The Birds and Bucs have only met 24 times, but six of those games were played during the postseason. The two most recent playoff games were blowout losses by Philly. I don't hate Tampa as much as I hate the Dallas Cowboys or New York Giants, but I absolutely hate that team.
Now, there's a news angle. Former Eagle Haason Reddick has agreed to terms on a one-year deal with those same Bucs that will pay him $14 million, including $12 million guaranteed. Suddenly, this extended rivalry is a lot more interesting, and lookey here!
Philly travels south to take on the Buccaneers this season!
