Philadelphia Eagles fans might remember former cornerback Josh Jobe. Well, he continues to prove that they were wrong to make that decision in 2024.
Jobe has been on the Seattle Seahawks since 2024 and has been turning in some nice performances, but his latest one might be his best. In the Seahawks' 13-10 regular season opening win over the New England Patriots, he ended up being the hero, picking off Drake Maye in the end zone with 21 seconds left to seal the win.
Seattle saw Jobe have one of his best games ever, racking up six tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass deflection, and one interception. That will leave a sour taste in Eagles fans' mouths for sure.
Eagles shouldn't have let Josh Jobe walk in 2024
Jobe was just an undrafted free agent with the Eagles out of Alabama back in 2022. He played two seasons in Philly, appearing in 28 games and finishing with 23 tackles, four pass deflections, and one forced fumble.
Since joining the Seahawks in 2024, he slowly worked his way into the starting lineup and now has at least one interception in each of the last three seasons. Jobe played a role in the Eagles' starting cornerback, Riq Woolen, sitting on the Seahawks' bench last year.
During Seattle's Super Bowl run last season, Jobe had career highs with 54 tackles and 12 pass deflections, along with an interception, in 16 games. In the playoffs, he had 11 tackles, one tackle for loss, one pass deflection, and one forced fumble in three games.
Since Jobe left the Eagles in 2024, Philly has rotated through starting cornerbacks. Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean became stars in the NFL, but the CB2 position has been a mess.
Darius Slay was released by the team after the 2024 season, with the Eagles being stuck with Adoree' Jackson and Kelee Ringo last year, but there's no need to rehash that nightmare. Woolen is hopefully the solution for Philly, but he's only on a one-year deal, so it's a band-aid at best.
The Eagles outright cut Jobe after training camp in 2024, leaving the Seahawks to benefit from his availability. He has made the most of it and left the Eagles in a rough spot at CB2 over the last year-plus.

Eagles fans can be happy to see Jobe become a Super Bowl champion and prove himself as a starter in the NFL, but there are some bitter feelings there. Maybe there would have been more stability at cornerback if Eagles general manager Howie Roseman had kept him. Roseman better hope it works out with Woolen in 2026.
