The Philadelphia Eagles are hoping for a return to dominance in 2026 after their 2025 campaign fell embarrassingly short of expectations. After multiple key additions on both sides of the ball, they look ready to compete for the NFC crown once again.
But the road won't be easy.
According to Bill Speros of Bookies.com, the Eagles are set to travel 22,115 miles during the 2026 season. That number ranks ninth in the NFL. Could the physical and mental exhaustion of long trips to road games be enough to set Philly back in its pursuit of another title?
Eagles' schedule reveals brutal travel requirements that could hinder playoff run
The Eagles won't get much rest in 2026. It's already been confirmed that the team will travel to London in Week 5 to face off with the Jacksonville Jaguars as part of the league's international series. That trip alone will account for a significant portion of their season mileage.
Add in a trip to Dallas, one to Arizona, and one to San Francisco, and the distance quickly starts to get concerning. Depending on the order of these games, the Eagles could face real fatigue issues due to travel throughout the season.
This isn't a difference that most fans experience. We flick on the television and watch the Eagles play football. Sometimes the logo in the middle of the field is different. Players, on the other hand, experience the full effects of the travel. Multiple long plane rides throughout the year can take a toll on a team.
That's the hidden impact of road games: the visiting team isn't only playing in enemy territory but also has to deal with the effects of travel.
So, how much will the mileage weigh on the Eagles this season? Especially after their moves in free agency and the NFL Draft, they should have enough depth on the roster to keep their players fresh. Even though their heavy travel is a slight disadvantage, Philadelphia has enough talent to overcome it. They've certainly had some dominant performances far from home in the past.

But this disadvantage can't be ignored. So much is riding on a return to success this season. Every factor, however small it may be, must be accounted for in Philadelphia's fight to get back to the top of the conference. Hopefully, the Eagles' travel doesn't set them back too far in 2026.
