How the Eagles can clinch a playoff spot in Week 14 of 2024 NFL season
After a 2-2 start to the 2024 NFL season, the Philadelphia Eagles have won eight straight games and sit at 10-2 heading into their Week 14 matchup with the Carolina Panthers. Thanks to their winning ways as of late, the Eagles will have an opportunity to clinch a playoff spot this weekend.
Playoff-clinching scenarios for the Eagles in Week 14
In fact, there are 10 different scenarios in which the Eagles could leave the weekend with a secure spot in the postseason, and not all of them even require a Philadelphia victory over Carolina. Here's a look at all of the various scenarios in which the Birds could clinch a playoff spot this weekend, via the NFL:
- PHI win + ATL loss or tie + SEA-ARI tie|
- PHI win + ATL loss or tie + ARI loss + LAR loss or tie
- PHI win + ATL loss or tie + ARI loss + DET win or tie
- PHI win + TB loss or tie + SEA-ARI tie
- PHI win + TB loss or tie + ARI loss + LAR loss or tie
- PHI win + TB loss or tie + ARI loss + DET win or tie
- PHI tie + ATL loss + SEA-ARI tie
- PHI tie + ATL loss + ARI loss + LAR loss or tie
- PHI tie + TB loss + SEA-ARI tie
- PHI tie + TB loss + ARI loss + LAR loss or tie
So, if any of the above situations play out, the Eagles will stamp their ticket to the NFL's second season.
Even if they don't secure a spot this weekend, the Eagles certainly appear destined for a fourth consecutive playoff berth under head coach Nick Sirianni. It would take a complete collapse for them to fall out of the playoff picture at this point, but considering the way the team's 2023 campaign ended, Philly fans shouldn't make any assumptions.
The schedule is on Philly's side, though. The Eagles will play four of their final five regular season games within the friendly confines of Lincoln Financial Field, and their lone remaining road game is just a short trip to Washington D.C. to play the Commanders.
If the Birds continue to take care of business, not only will they make the playoffs again, but they'll have a real chance to land the No. 1 overall seed in the NFC.
