After some troubling years with the New York Jets, the Philadelphia Eagles took a chance on banged-up offensive lineman Mekhi Becton.

The Eagles moved Becton from his usual left tackle position and made him the starting right guard for the season. That move paid off as he started 15 games and performed well, helping Philly win their second Super Bowl in franchise history.

Becton got paid in the offseason for his play, but it was the Los Angeles Chargers who gave him a two-year, $20 million contract to be the team's starting right guard. While this was viewed as a great move, it is now seen as a mistake, including by Becton himself.

Becton isn't enjoying his first year in Los Angeles

ESPN's Kris Rhim recently published an article about his interview with Becton, sharing more about his first season with the Chargers. Becton's passive-aggressive comment may signal a deteriorating relationship.

"Just stay healthy and try to finish every game — if I'm allowed."

It didn't end there. Becton continued when asked about his random snap counts throughout the season after playing in just nine games so far. The veteran offensive lineman did not have an answer to that.

"That's an upstairs question. You got to ask them. That's something they come up with. So I don't know," Becton told Rhim via Bolt Beat.

This season, Becton has missed time on the field with an ankle injury, which has led the Chargers to be more cautious with him, and his performance has taken an unexpected dip. How the team goes about things has not sat well with him.

"On game day, we usually don't come out, so that's just something new to me," Becton said. "So I just showed my emotions."

It's clear that Becton isn't happy in Los Angeles. Eagles fans would say the feeling is mutual.

Philly has had some struggles on the offensive line this year, with Landon Dickerson, Cam Jurgens, and Lane Johnson all suffering injuries. Becton's replacement, Tyler Steen, has not lived up to the standard his former teammate set last year at the same position.

A quick divorce could be on the horizon for the Chargers and Becton. After how the 2025 campaign has gone for the Eagles, maybe a reunion between Becton and Philadelphia is in store for 2026?
