Every Philadelphia Eagles fan was screaming at general manager Howie Roseman to trade for an edge rusher to help the pass rush. After just a few days of Jaelan Phillips being in the City of Brotherly Love, it's clear it was the right choice.

The Eagles acquired Phillips from the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick just one day before the trade deadline. It has been a whirlwind experience for Phillips, who has been showered with praise from Roseman and his head coach, Nick Sirianni.

Phillips had a chance to talk about his feelings about being in Philadelphia. His response was awesome for all fans to hear.

“This is literally the greatest thing to happen to me in my whole life.”

A follow-up from the media was whether he sees himself being an Eagle for the long term, since he is only under contract through the 2025 season. Phillips would like to return and stay in Philadelphia for as long as possible.

"Yeah, I mean, absolutely. I would just love to be in any position to where I'm around great guys on a great team and a great culture, and that's definitely what the Eagles organization is. So if they would want to have me back, I'd love to be here. But taking it day-by-day. What's most important is taking care of business right now."

Phillips already looks like a perfect fit for the Eagles

His past relationship with Eagles' defensive coordinator, Vic Fangio, already makes this look like a perfect match made in Heaven for both sides. Phillips dominated in his only season under Fangio in Miami back in 2023, racking up 43 tackles, 11 quarterback hits, seven tackles for loss, 6.5 sacks, two pass deflections, and one interception in eight games.

Phillips now joins an Eagles EDGE group that is getting back Nolan Smith Jr. from his triceps injury and Brandon Graham from his short retirement. The group also has Jalyx Hunt and Josh Uche, who have been inconsistent but effective over the last few games.

The Eagles are looking poised to make another Super Bowl run, as Phillips was the missing piece to this defense to put them over the top. Whether Phillips can overcome the durability concerns narrative and play through the whole season will be another question he has to answer for the whole year.
