Jalen Carter receives label most Eagles fans were hoping wouldn't come for him

That might stick for awhile.

Most people across the country have not been giving very complimentary comments about Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Jalen Carter, but one label has been placed on him that will sting.

FanSided's Adam Patrick wrote an article on NFL Spin Zone where he named the NFL's Week 1 heroes and villains. It's relatively easy to predict that Carter was listed as a villain.

"Just like the millions of people who saw (Justin) Herbert put on a show in Brazil on Friday, NFL fans all over the country saw Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter get ejected from his team's Week 1 matchup against the Dallas Cowboys on Thursday before the contest really even started.

During a small delay after the opening kickoff due to an injured player, Carter was ejected from the contest for spitting on Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott. Regardless of why it happened, it's just not something that's going to be tolerated in the NFL.

Unfortunately for Carter, this incident is likely going to stick with him for the rest of his career. He could go on to win the league's Defensive Player of the Year award, and some people are still going to say, 'Hey, isn't that the guy who spat on Dak Prescott?'"

Will that spit seen around the NFL really haunt Carter for the rest of his career?

Unfortunately, there's a strong possibility of that. Carter had character issues entering the NFL after the role he played in a car accident before the draft that caused the deaths of two people. He would plead no contest to reckless driving and street racing, receiving 12 months of probation, a $1,000 fine, and 80 hours of community service, along with a driving course.

Most people moved on from that after he kept his head down in his first two years in the NFL and played well. He has been a Pro Bowler and considered one of the best in the league.

This has been intensified now that he did it against the Cowboys and targeted a quarterback. The league has been cracking down on unsportmanlike behavior on the field and won't let many players forget when a mistake is made.

Carter hopefully learns from this mistake and can grow from it. Until then, this will be hovering over him for a long time.
