It's becoming clear to everyone on the outside that, despite there not being a verbal commitment to Tyler Steen being the new starting right guard of the Philadelphia Eagles, he appears to have the job.
All training camp and offseason workouts, Steen has taken all the first team reps at right guard as the Eagles are looking to replace Mekhi Becton, who departed in free agency for the Los Angeles Chargers during the offseason.
It seems that his teammates are also aware of how good he's going to be. Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter paid him high compliments by calling him a "hell of a player." Carter believes Steen is ready to take over the starting job at right guard.

Steen is the right choice at right guard so the position battle should be over
Steen has been waiting for this moment since being drafted in the third round of the 2023 NFL Draft by Philly. He's mostly been a backup with only three starts out of the 28 games he's appeared in.
There were some questions during the offseason as to whether Steen would have tough competition at right guard, but not really. When the Eagles traded for Kenyon Green from the Houston Texans, some thought Green might have a shot. Well, he's a left guard and the team has no intentions of moving him to the right so that's out of the question.
The only other option would be Matt Pryor, who is a veteran but hasn't played on the same level as Steen has during training camp. Pryor has always been more of a solid backup lineman who can play tackle or guard if need be.

Philadelphia might not say it, but Eagles fans are safe to assume that Steen is going to start, and getting a glowing review from Carter can only help with the fan base's confidence in the 25-year-old guard. Steen has a lot to live up to with the crazy amount of great Eagles linemen that have come through the city, but he appears to be ready to answer the call.
