What an abysmal way to end OTAs for the Philadelphia Eagles and quarterback Jalen Hurts.
Throughout the last three weeks, there have been a lot of growing pains with the Eagles' offense, with Hurts and company struggling mightily, but the final day of mandatory OTAs turned out to be the worst of them all. 94 WIP Eagles reporter Eliot Shorr-Parks gave a grade of D for the second straight day to Hurts and the offense, as he managed to complete only six of 14 passes with an interception.
"There are excuses you can make for the poor showing from Hurts and the offense," Shorr-Parks said via his X post. "Learning a new offense, no DeVonta Smith and going up against what will almost certainly be an elite defense. All are fair. But that doesn’t change the fact that the result on the field for the offense was not a good one yet again."
Eagles and Jalen Hurts appear to be in the summer break at the right time
The Eagles' defense is well ahead of where the offense is at this point, as Hurts really struggled. Shorr-Parks documented that Hurts threw an interception to OTA standout Riq Woolen, and the franchise quarterback only completed four of his eight passes during the 7-on-7 drill.
This can be chalked up to growing pains in new offensive coordinator Sean Mannion's scheme, and Smith had an excused absence on the final day of OTAs. Hurts also has a brand-new wide receiver room that he is trying to build rapport with, which takes time.
Eagles fans' hopes were that they would have all these problems at the beginning of OTAs and slowly build to show improvement by the end. Instead, they went in the polar opposite direction and actually got worse as the three weeks continued on.
There's no reason to believe at this point that Hurts and the offense can't figure this out and get better off of it, as Eagles fans should fully expect it. Now that they have had live reps in Mannion's system, they can use the next month to either work individually on what they need to do or come together outside the facility to work on it.

The potential for this offense still feels so real and exciting, so this shouldn't be discouraging. With that being said, it is a bit of a concern that there is little momentum going into training camp for Hurts and the Eagles offense.
