Star quarterback Jalen Hurts made some serious Eagles franchise history in Philadelphia's 55-23 NFC Championship rout of the rival Washington Commanders at Lincoln Financial Field.

The Eagles absolutely dominated the Commanders over the course of the contest, and now they'll travel to New Orleans for a rematch with the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LIX. But, before moving forward to the big game, let's look at the history Hurts made against Washington.

Jalen Hurts passes Nick Foles for second-most playoff wins by a starting QB in Eagles history

The postseason victory was Hurts' fifth as the starting quarterback of the Eagles, which passes Philadelphia folk hero Nick Foles for the second-most in franchise history. Now, only Donovan McNabb (9) has more.

Hurts now has a playoff record of 5-3. He lost to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the Wild Card round during his second season (first as a starter). Then, he won two postseason games in 2022 before losing to the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl LVII. He again lost to the Bucs in the Wild Card round last season, and has now led the Eagles to three playoff wins this season, so far.

Hurts has now led the Eagles to the Super Bowl in two of his four seasons as the team's starting quarterback, and he became the first quarterback in franchise history to lead the Eagles to multiple Super Bowl berths in the process. After the big win over the Commanders, Hurts praised Nick Sirianni for the freedom the coach allowed his quartetback to play with.

“He did a great job," Hurts said. "I guess he let me out of my straight jacket a little bit today."

Hurts had 262 yards and four total touchdowns against Washington, and now he's one win away from leading the Eagles to the second Super Bowl win in franchise history. In order to get that win, though, the Eagles will have to go through the two-time defending-champion Kansas City Chiefs.

Kansas City bested Philadelphia, 38-35, in Super Bowl LVII just two years ago, but Hurts was stellar in the game, as he accounted for 374 yards and four total touchdowns. It will take another dynamic performance from Hurts to lead the Eagles past the Chiefs in the rematch, but Philadelphia's star quarterback should be up to the task. He tends to play his best ball when the lights are the brightest.
