The addition of edge rusher Jonathan Greenard might arguably be the biggest move of the offseason for the Philadelphia Eagles, and everyone is loving what the implications of the trade could mean.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman got a deal done with the Minnesota Vikings to send two third-round picks to them in exchange for Greenard. While going on his first press tour with the Philadelphia sports media, Greenard talked about the possibility of winning the Super Bowl and what his new starting quarterback Jalen Hurts first said to him via text.

"It moved me so much," Greenard said via philadelphiaeagles.com's Dave Spadaro. "I was in Minnesota, I didn't see any hardware there. I was in Houston, didn't see any hardware. So I actually see it and hear guys talk about it, you know, Jalen (Hurts, quarterback) texted me and was like, 'We're gonna get one,' and it's not just talk. This is how everybody carries themselves around the building. It's the standard, the standard is the standard. This team already had everything they need to get to that point, so bringing me here, I just feel like I can just add to that what's already being built here and I can just be myself truly, and just play ball and everything else will work itself out."

Jalen Hurts is ready for another Super Bowl title, but with Jonathan Greenard this time

Would Eagles fans expect anything else from their star quarterback? Hurts' hunger to win Super Bowls has never gone away, and it shows on the field that he still cares about winning it all despite having earned one in 2024.

Greenard will for sure come in motivated after the Vikings decided to pass up on paying their top defensive player this offseason. The Eagles proved how much they want Greenard to be there with a four-year, $100 million extension signed after the trade happened.

Philly needs Greenard to step up and be the guy who racked up 24.5 sacks in 2023 and 2024 combined, earning a Pro Bowl trip in 2024. Last season was a wash, with injuries and other issues in Minnesota, where he recorded only three sacks.

The Eagles should count themselves lucky to get Greenard after losing out on re-signing Jaelan Phillips, who ended up being the right move at the end of the day. Philly gets a more consistent sacker while paying $30 million less to keep him. Hurts' message was heard by Greenard, so watch out for a bounce-back season from him.
