Change is on the horizon for the Philadelphia Eagles as the offense might look very different in 2026, which is perfectly fine with the fan base.
The 2025 season was a nightmare under first-year offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, after leading an offense that went from the top 10 in 2024 to the bottom 15 in every statistical category. This has led to reports that Patullo might be one foot out the door for the Eagles, and that most of the offensive coaching staff could be out as well.
While speaking with the media in front of his cleaned-out locker after the Eagles' 23-19 playoff loss to the San Francisco 49ers, quarterback Jalen Hurts made waves with comments about Patullo and the lack of direct support. It was something else Hurts said about the offense and changes, though, that are interesting to hear.
"I accept the change, I accept that those things don't come whether expectations aren't met or we're making Super Bowl runs," Hurts said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "I've experienced both ends of it, so I have a unique perspective on that. So I'm not going allow that to be an excuse for us to not make championship runs and not have the success that we desire and that I desire. That's what motivates most. Obviously, every year is different. Changes are inevitable in a number of ways. But my focus is on growth, my focus is on improvement, and my focus is on embracing the challenges that come with where I am in my career."
Jalen Hurts is only focused on his own growth
This quote tracks, as Hurts has been through so much change in his football career, having spent almost every year since college with a new play caller. He had a play caller for more than one consecutive year only once in his career: Shane Steichen, his offensive coordinator in Philadelphia in 2021 and 2022 before he took the Indianapolis Colts head coaching job in 2023.
As usual, Hurts is taking the right approach to this, as he has some things he needs to work on in his development. He seemed to have taken a step back in his deep ball accuracy and played it a bit too safe with his passes each week.
While he did hit a new career-high in touchdown passes in a season with 25, there were two key stats that he took a hit with from the 2024 season. He dropped in his accuracy (68.7% in 2024 to 64.8% in 2025) and passer rating (103.7 in 2024 to 98.5 in 2025).

Hurts has some work to do in the offseason, but he still had a good season as the quarterback. The end goal might not have been reached, but even if the outsiders don't love Hurts as a passer, Eagles fans have no reservations about him leading this franchise in 2026.
