The Philadelphia Eagles lost right guard Mekhi Becton in the offseason after their Super Bowl victory, which put a dent in Jalen Hurts' mighty offensive line. This team knows that the o-line is the biggest strength of this roster, and they chose to keep as many pieces together as possible by extending center Cam Jurgens.

The Eagles agreed to a four-year, $68 million extension with Jurgens that will keep him in Philadelphia throughout the 2029 season. Even after losing some big names in free agency, Howie Roseman knew that he couldn't afford to let Jurgens leave this team and break up the offensive line around Jalen Hurts.

After more than a decade of Hall of Fame center play from Jason Kelce, the Eagles have seamlessly transitioned away from him by landing someone who is capable of becoming a high-end starter in his own right in Jurgens.

Eagles sign center Cam Jurgens to four-year contract extension

Jurgens, who was drafted in the second round of the 2022 NFL Draft and was eventually groomed to succeed Kelce as the starting center, managed to turn one year as the locked-in starting center into a contract that makes him the highest-paid player at his position in the NFL. Only Kansas City's Creed Humphrey has a higher AAV at $18 million per year.

Jurgens may not be the game's best pass-protecting center, but he played an integral role in helping get Saquon Barkley to 2,000 yards this season while adjusting to a new position following his switch from right guard. Jurgens is becoming one of Roseman's best second-round picks ever.

The entire left side of the Philadelphia offensive line is locked in for the foreseeable future. Left tackle Jordan Mailata is currently playing on a three-year, $66 million contract, while left guard Landon Dickerson is the highest-paid player in the NFL at his position with his four-year, $84 million deal.

The Eagles are building the best offensive line in the league, and they are doing whatever they can to keep that unit together. Hurts has to be thankful for this Jurgens contract, as he should have no trouble standing tall in the pocket next season.
