It's been a minute, several years if we're being frank, but this kid looks familiar. We feel like we've seen this Kyle McCord fella long before the Philadelphia Eagles made him the 181st player taken in the 2025 NFL Draft. It had to have been before Syracuse and before Ohio State. Now, where might that have happened? We couldn't quite put our finger on it. Then, it hit us.
St. Joseph's Preparatory in Philly... If memory serves, he received a scholarship offer before beginning his freshman year of high school. He passed for a school-record 2,883 yards and 35 touchdown passes as a sophomore.
He graduated after teaming up with Marvin Harrison Jr. and fellow Eagles draftee Jeremiah Trotter Jr., among others, and throwing for a Philadelphia Catholic League record 6,887 passing yards. He also tossed 88 career touchdown passes. Yep! That's the guy we remember.
Perhaps this was meant to be all along. After stints with the Buckeyes and transferring to star for the Syracuse Orange last season, a proud son of the City of Brotherly Love has returned to play for his hometown Eagles, and he couldn't be more excited.

A day of prank phone calls ends with a dream-come-true scenario for Eagles QB Kyle McCord.
Many of these NFL QBs aren't using to being backups before arriving at the grand stage, but McCord is fully aware of the situation he's in. This is Jalen Hurts' team, but Kyle is accepting of that, yet still excited. He credits sitting behind C.J. Stroud for two years as being 'one of the best things that ever happened to him'.
Philly's QB Factory may eventually lead to his opportunity elsewhere. We'll see how it goes. Right now, he has his opportunity to celebrate his accomplishment. He's a freakin' Philadelphia Eagle!
The news certainly came as a breath of fresh air after having to navigate a day that tested his patience and brought with it prank phone calls.
"It still hasn't hit me yet, that I'm on the team and a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles. It doesn't even seem real to say". Don't worry Kyle. This is real, and trust us. It will certainly hit you.
You're a Philly kid. You know the deal. This is one of the most beloved brands in sports. Jokes are over. It's just about time to go to work as rookie minicamp is coming. Something tells us he's going to fit in just fine.
