Philadelphia Eagles fans have been sitting at work on Monday, hoping and praying for some good news for their left guard, Landon Dickerson, regarding his injury from Sunday's open practice. Unfortunately, that's not going to be the case.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported the update on Dickerson's injury, citing sources who indicate that Dickerson is believed to have suffered a meniscus injury to his right knee. Dickerson is considering additional options to determine the next course of action. The length of time he will be away is not yet known.

The injury occurred during the Eagles' open practice at Lincoln Financial Field, in front of thousands of fans. Dickerson had to get carted off the field from the sideline as he was favoring his right leg.

What now for the Eagles after Dickerson's injury update?

Depending on whether the meniscus is torn or not, this could be a season-ending injury for Dickerson. Minnesota Vikings quarterback J.J. McCarthy had a torn meniscus in the preseason last year that cost him the whole season.

Former NFL head team doctor David J. Chao reacted to the news by saying, "Door open for not season ending is the good news."

It's a massive blow to the Eagles' offensive line, regardless of how long he is out for, as Dickerson is a three-time Pro Bowl selection in his four years with the team. The team already has specific questions at guard with Tyler Steen, the new right guard, after Mekhi Becton signed with the Los Angeles Chargers in the offseason.

If fans went by the unofficial depth chart that was released last week, Kenyon Green would be next in line at left guard, but he got hurt in the Eagles' preseason win over the Cincinnati Bengals. It would likely be Matt Pryor moving over from right guard to left guard. He's more of a veteran who adds a bit more stability to the line.

It's impossible to replace Dickerson, but the hope is that he could still come back this season to help the Eagles defend their Super Bowl title.
