Two years ago, we thought we had written a happy ending. The Philadelphia Eagles would conquer the Kansas City Chiefs in Super Bowl 57. Four legends would retire together and ride off into the sunset.
Unfortunately, once it was showtime, something we didn't expect transpired. There were two issues we had come up with.
The first was this. At no point, did we ask any of those guys if they planned to retire. Things really blew up in our faces when the Birds LOST Super Bowl 57.
Jason Kelce, Fletcher Cox, Brandon Graham, and Lane Johnson all returned in 2023. The goal was simple. Get back to the Super Bowl and win.
There isn't an Eagles fan walking that doesn't know how that plan ended, and that friends, begins today's story.
Lane Johnson offers some comic relief as three members of the Eagles' Core Four has retired.
We hate referencing the collapse of the 2023-24 Eagles season, but we're beginning to heal (somewhat). The collapse is officially part of a larger and more beautiful story.
Jason Kelce and Fletcher Cox retired during the 2024 offseason. B.G. retired this past March 18. And, then there was only one. Lane Johnson is the Core Four's lone member who is still active on Philadelphia's roster.

You have to give it to him. That was pretty clever and funny.
One day later. he was made available to select members of the Philly media. He had this to say about saying goodbye to three longtime friends and fellow Eagles legends.
And, then there was one..

We feel you Lane! We haven't just seen Fletch, Jason, and B.G. retire. We saw Nick Foles and DeSean Jackson officially hang the cleats up too. We get it! It's part of the process.
That does beg the question though. What if Philly can repeat as champions? Might Lane become the first Eagle ever to win three championships?
