With the Philadelphia Eagles' offense struggling in training camp, they could really use their star right tackle, Lane Johnson, but he remains out.
Johnson has now missed the last four days of training camp for an undisclosed reason. Many have been wondering whether the foot is still a problem or if something else is happening.
NFL insider Mike Garafolo reported that Johnson was away from the team because of a personal situation. Johnson is expected to be back with the team soon, though.

First off, all Eagles fans just hope that everything is okay with Johnson and his family. Personal things have to come first, so this is a completely understandable absence.
There is some relief knowing that it doesn't appear to be a personal health issue, at least from what fans know. Johnson missed the last eight games of the 2025 season with the foot injury, so many thought he might have reaggravated it.
Sure, missing the beginning of camp when a new offense has been put out there is not the most ideal situation. It's clear that all the players on that side of the ball are still learning the scheme since they have struggled through the first week of camp.
If there is going to be a time to miss camp, though, this is the time to do it for Johnson. It's so early in camp, and Johnson is such a good player that he can come back whenever he is ready and still play at a high level.
Anyway, this is a great time for rookie third-round pick Markel Bell to get the reps at right tackle. Bell is seen as the potential replacement for Johnson, so why not see if he really has what it takes to handle the job for the future?
Also, Johnson isn't even going to play in the preseason anyway. He typically sits out the games, or if he does play, it might be for one drive, but Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni will usually let his starters sit out all three preseason games.

Eagles fans will have to be patient to see their future Hall of Famer back at right tackle. Until then, let's hope for the best in his personal life.
