Philadelphia Eagles fans went through the wringer with their emotions over the 24 hours leading up to the NFC Wild Card game against the San Francisco 49ers.
All week, there have been different opinions, thoughts, and reports about Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson and whether he was going to play with the foot injury. Just a little over a day before the playoff game, insiders Ian Rapoport, Mike Garafolo, and Jay Glazer all cast doubt that Johnson was a lock to play, with Glazer adding that Johnson's foot has been swelling and is going to be a game-time decision.
A new report by 6 ABC's Jason Dumas shares that a source tells a similar story on Johnson, but a different twist from the other insider's report.
"Despite recent reports that he’s still experiencing some swelling and pain in his foot, I’m told Lane Johnson will play on Sunday."
Lane Johnson now looks like he's going to play for Eagles
Eagles fans have not seen Johnson on the field since the Detroit Lions game in November. Before that, he did not allow a quarterback hit or sack in 262 pass blocking snaps.
Fred Johnson has been filling in for Lane during the injury absence and has gotten better over the week, especially with run blocking and getting Saquon Barkley going in games. The Eagles will lean on Fred Johnson to either fill in at right tackle or back up on the line.
Philly has some concerns with the offensive line, as Brett Toth was downgraded to being out for the game with a concussion. That means Fred Johnson and Matt Pryor become the top backups on the offensive line.
