The Philadelphia Eagles have had a season for the books. We can talk all day long about the different numbers and metrics to describe what's been a magnificent season for this team.

Whether it's the outrageous campaign put on by running back Saquon Barkley and him trotting into Philadelphia's record logs in just one season or the way this defense has bounced back after being transformed in just one offseason, there's plenty for fans to hang their hats on.

When the season is over, though, the Eagles will turn their attention to the offseason. Like every other franchise, the offseason is a full-go, even for a Super Bowl participant.

One of the first steps of the offseason, beyond figuring out what's going to happen with offensive coordinator Kellen Moore, will be to analyze the current players set to be free agents when the new league year begins in mid-March.

The Eagles are set to have 17 frree agents of their own, with 15 of them being completely unrestricted.

More Eagles news:

There might be no more important impending free agent than linebacker Zack Baun, who came to the Eagles by way of the New Orleans Saints, who chose not to pay him last year. Instead, Philadelphia was able to land Baun on a 1-year, $3.5 million deal.

Baun then took that low-cost number and turned it into an All Pro season. Now, he's set to get paid a much prettier penny this coming offseason.

Top 4 projected Eagles free agent contracts

Using Spotrac's market value, here are the top four projected contracts coming out of the Eagles' free agent bunch.

Player

Position

Annual Average Estimate

Josh Sweat

DE

$18.8 million

Milton Williams

DL

$12.0 million

Mekhi Becton

OL

$10.2 million

Zack Baun

LB

$9.7 million

If Vic Fangio is indeed around for a while, then is losing someone like Josh Sweat that big of a deal? Looking at nearly $19 million annually for a player who didn't crack the top-20 in sacks, pressures, or quarterback hits seems like an overpay.

If that's going to be his annual salary, then the Eagles may as well look at other options. After all, Fangio's prowess has been put on full display this year and he'll be able to get the most out of another pass rusher at a lesser price.
