Here's another one of the moments where we feel radical honesty is necessary. We've always loved Miles Sanders. He was one of those bullseye predictions we made on all of those Philadelphia Eagles mock drafts everyone is always wrong on (including us).
If memory serves though, on at least three occasions during April, 20019, we mocked him to Philly in Round 2. Wouldn't you know it? That's exactly how it worked out. That allowed us to beat our chests some and tell everyone how smart we were.
Things went well for Miles in the City of Brotherly Love for the most part. There were injuries here and there, but he earned PFWA All-Rookie Team honors in 2019. His final season (2022) ended with a Pro Bowl nod, and that's when things started to shift.
Philly had a shiny new back in Kenneth Gainwell. Kenny didn't hit some of the home runs Miles did, but he did everything else just as well if not better. Sanders left during the 2023 NFL offseason. Now, Kenny is gone too.

Miles Sanders lands with the Cowboys
There's more free agency news to report. One day after Kenny G was officially introduced as a Pittsburgh Steeler, news surfaces that Miles is back in the NFC East. He has landed with the rival Dallas Cowboys. This comes after a two-year exile with the lowly Carolina Panthers.

Four years in Philly resulted in 3,708 yards on 739 carries, another 942 yards on 124 receptions, and 23 total touchdowns. He added another 256 all-purpose yards and two postseason TDs during five playoff games, but he regressed in Charlotte.
He notched 637 rushing yards, 302 receiving yards, and four trips to the end zone in 27 games that spanned two seasons with the Panthers.
Sanders' release created $2.95 million of dead cap space for Carolina. It also frees up $5.2 million of salary cap space. Typically we'd wish former Birds luck in their new cities. This time we can't do so for obvious reasons.
