The Philadelphia Eagles signed A.J. Dillon to a contract to add depth to the running back position and he's already making headlines. According to John Clark of NBC Philadelphia, "New Eagles running back AJ Dillon says the most he has squatted is 615 pounds but he has never done Max weight. It was more for repetition. He says he is ready for a competition with Saquon Barkley and possibly Jalen Hurts."

This is clearly (or at least hopefully 'clearly') a joke from Dillon, as it's pretty obvious the Eagles are happy with both their quarterback and starting running back. Hurts and Barkley helped the team win its first Super Bowl in seven years and Barkley was rewarded with a no-brainer contract extension after being a huge piece for the offense this past year.

Dillon, a second-round pick by the Packers in the 2020 draft out of Boston College, spent the past five years in Green Bay. His best year came in 2021, his second in the league, when he carried the rock 187 times for 803 yards and five touchdowns while tallying over 300 receiving yards and scoring two touchdowns as a pass-catcher.

Unfortunately, he suffered a neck injury last August and never got to play what would have been his fifth season for the Packers. Now he's in Philadelphia looking for a fresh start and he's making the most of his fresh start by challenging Hurts and Barkley.

It was a good decision to bring Dillon in as depth considering the Eagles lost Kenneth Gainwell to the Steelers and the more depth behind Barkley, the better. Dillon hasn't played any meaningful snaps in over a year and a half but hopefully, he can provide a nice depth piece for the Eagles in case Barkley has to miss time.
