Last year was a clear display of dominance from the Philadelphia Eagles, as they secured their second Super Bowl title in eight years.
The defense was number one in the NFL, and the offense was ranked seventh. After going 14-3 and winning the NFC East division, the Eagles dominated through the postseason, with three of their four wins being by two or more possessions. It was all capped off with a 40-22 win over the Kansas City Chiefs in New Orleans.
Going into 2025, Philadelphia faces new challenges ahead of training camp, including figuring out the roster. That doesn't matter to the team because there is one thing that is going to happen at the end of the season that every fan knows about and the media is predicting.
NFL.com's bold prediction of the Eagles' 2025 season is obvious, but missing one more thing
NFL.com columnist Jeffri Chadiha shared his list of the 10 way-too-early bold predictions for 2025 NFL season. At number three, the Eagles are being predicted to be the first NFC East team in 21 years to repeat as division champions.
"We know this is one of the longest-running streaks in the league, but it's time for it to end. That's how good Philadelphia is going to be this coming season. As much as the Eagles have to fill in some holes left by key offseason departures -- the defense, in particular, lost five key veterans-- the core of the defending Super Bowl champions remains very much intact. Even with Kevin Patullo succeeding Kellen Moore as offensive coordinator, that side of the football remains stacked. Running back Saquon Barkley is coming off a 2,000-yard season, quarterback Jalen Hurts proved once again that he's one of the most underrated leaders in the game and the receivers and offensive line still rank among the best in the league. As for the defense, coordinator Vic Fangio will help some new faces mature while an assortment of stars (including defensive tackle Jalen Carter, All-Pro linebacker Zack Baun and second-year defensive backs Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean) should once again rank among the best in the business. Look, this team won 16 of its last 17 games last season and pounded Kansas City in the Super Bowl. Just as importantly, a good number players were around for that epic meltdown in the second half of the 2023 season. They surely learned a lot of about the challenges of success and how hard it is to stay on top, which will come in handy this fall."
While this is all obvious, the quality of the roster is another matter. The outlook for the division is another story. The Washington Commanders are the biggest threat to the Eagles winning the division, as they appear to have improved on paper. Philadelphia beat them two out of the three times during the 2024 season, so as long as the Eagles can at least split the series again, they should be fine.
That's because the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants are not in the same position. People within the media are still high on Dallas having a good season, but a lack of a strong running game and concerns with the defense make them a risky pick. Even their new head coach, with no prior head coaching experience, and almost seemed like a bottom of the list choice, doesn't have enough confidence in Dallas.
The Giants' roster saw an overhaul at quarterback, with no one knowing what was going to happen. It doesn't seem to matter because jobs will be lost, maybe even before the season ends, if New York doesn't get off to a fast start.

Philadelphia crushed the Giants and Cowboys last year, so those appear to be four easy wins, with the Commanders the toughest competition. The roster is solid with some questions at edge and safety. Otherwise, the division title should be easy to get.
The real question is whether the Eagles can win the Super Bowl again. That will be the biggest question and challenge for Philadelphia.
