Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has a strong reputation not only for being the best in the NFL at his job, but also for the art of the deal with trades.
Roseman has mastered the ability to nail a great trade, whether it was getting A.J. Brown or moving up in the draft to select Jalen Carter. Las Vegas Raiders general manager John Spytek, a former Eagles executive, spoke about Roseman and how he gets great deals in trades.
"Howie's great, and he's one of the best at what he does, and he finds value in places," Spytek said via The Athletic's Zach Berman. "I mean this with respect to Howie: I always watch myself because he's so good at what he does."
"But he's been great. He's been a great mentor to me. You know, he's taught me a lot. I learned a lot from him in the year and a half that I was two years I was with him in Philly... He's been a great resource for me as I've gotten this job."
John Spytek spoke highly of Howie Roseman as a general manager
Roseman has been the Eagles' general manager since 2010, and his resume backs up the success he has had over the years. The Eagles have been to the Super Bowl four times, winning twice in his time with the franchise.
One thing about Roseman, though, is that he loves to make his trades. Spytek knows that better than anyone, especially since they made a deal together last year that involved defensive lineman Thomas Booker going to Las Vegas in exchange for cornerback Jakorian Bennett.
At the trade deadline last year, Roseman made three trades to improve his defense. He was able to acquire Michael Carter, Jaire Alexander, and Jaelan Phillips. While it didn't quite work out with Carter and Alexander, Phillips was a difference-maker for the Eagles' defense, which they badly needed.

This offseason should be more of the same, with Roseman striking more deals to help the roster. Eagles fans know that whatever he does, this team is only going to improve as the window is starting to close on winning a Super Bowl.
