The Philadelphia Eagles have been through the wringer at edge rusher, trying to get everyone they could, without any success.
Philly was reportedly in the conversation for Maxx Crosby in a trade, but he was sent to the Baltimore Ravens and is now back with the Las Vegas Raiders, where he could be traded again. After Crosby, the Eagles worked hard to re-sign Jaelan Phillips, but the Carolina Panthers outbid them and will be getting him.
The logical next step for the Eagles was to target Trey Hendrickson, but again, it's no longer an option, as the Ravens will be signing him to a new four-year, $112 million deal. That leaves the Eagles in a situation where they have no idea what they will be doing next at edge rusher. There is a plan in place that the fans can expect to be carried out.
NFL insider shares what is next for the Eagles
The Athletic's NFL insider Dianna Russini reported that the Eagles were a part of the conversation to sign Hendrickson before Baltimore got him. Russini then mentioned that the Eagles have also reached out to the Minnesota Vikings about edge rusher Jonathan Greenard for a trade.
This is about in line with what ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler reported over the weekend that Greenard was going to be a target for the Eagles. Philly could trade for him and only have to give up a Day 2 pick to acquire him.
Eagles general manager Howie Roseman is always in the market for a trade and is trying everything he can to get his defensive line to improve. Roseman was able to re-sign Jordan Davis and is working on re-signing Jalen Carter as well, but Greenard would make the perfect replacement for Phillips.

On Day 2 of the legal tampering period, the Eagles were busy making moves at the end of the day. Expect more of that from Roseman on Day 3.
