The Philadelphia Eagles now know when they will be facing the Washington Commanders the week before Christmas.

In Week 16, the NFL has announced the Eagles and Commanders will lead off the doubleheader on FOX on Saturday, December 20, at 5:00 pm EST. The Green Bay Packers and Chicago Bears will follow up at 8:20 pm EST also on FOX.

Eagles-Commanders might end up being for the division for Philly

It has truly been a tale of two different seasons between the Eagles and Commanders. Most people thought this would be an epic showdown between two of the NFL's best teams, but it has since been seen as a disappointment.

Philly is currently in first place in the NFC East with an 8-4 record, two games ahead of the Dallas Cowboys for the lead. The Eagles are in the driver's seat to win the division, but have lost two straight games to lose grip of the top spot in the NFC.

Washington has been plagued with injuries all season, resulting in a 3-9 record and in third place in the NFC East. The Commanders might have their star quarterback, Jayden Daniels, back from his arm injury, but if Washington doesn't feel comfortable putting their signal caller out there with the playoffs gone, they might end up shutting him down for the season.

After surviving the toughest part of their gauntlet of a schedule, the Philadelphia Eagles might have a chance to try to make a late-season run to close up the division by the first Commanders in Week 16 and focus on getting the first seed in the NFC. That spot is currently being occupied by the team that just beat them on Black Friday, the Chicago Bears, with a 9-3 record.

The Commanders are most likely playing spoiler in the game, so the Eagles better be ready to get the job done.
