If there is one thing that Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman has been a master at, it's finding the best deal possible to get the job done.

The Eagles made a trade with the Miami Dolphins to acquire edge rusher Jaelan Phillips in exchange for a 2026 third-round pick. It's a win-win as Miami gets a draft pick and Philly lands the edge rusher who can make them Super Bowl contenders.

NFL reporter Albert Breer added another caveat that will make this deal an even better one for the Eagles. Breer added that to make the trade happen, the Dolphins agreed to pay the majority of Phillips' salary in 2025 for the Eagles to give them the higher pick.

Roseman just showed a masterclass on how to get a trade done

Philadelphia has been known for doing everything possible to acquire talent while also saving money in the process. This is a massive win for the Eagles as their pocketbooks won't be hit as hard with the deal being done.

Another aspect of why this deal is so beneficial for the Eagles is that they already had two third-round picks in the 2026 NFL Draft. They might as well use one of them as a trade asset to get a guy who can be an impact player.

Phillips is in the final year of his rookie contract, so the Eagles will eventually have to address what they want to do with him. At 26 years old, Phillips has plenty of years ahead of him and has had a solid season so far, with three sacks and seven quarterback hits for a struggling Dolphins team.

His production should only increase in Philadelphia since he is reuniting with the man who wanted him, defensive coordinator Vic Fangio. Phillips knows Fangio's defensive scheme well and can be an instant contributor on the team.

This is a great deal for the Eagles and another reminder of how good Roseman is at his job.
