Everyone seems to be in agreement that the Philadelphia Eagles might have the best cornerback duo between Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean.

Mitchell and DeJean are coming off All-Pro seasons in just their second year in the NFL, proving that they are elite and only getting better. ESPN NFL reporter Jeremy Fowler surveyed multiple NFL executives, coaches, and scouts to rank the top 10 cornerbacks in the league. Mitchell was ranked sixth, while DeJean made it at 10.

"Well-rounded coverage game and very competitive against the opposing team's No. 1," an AFC executive said about Mitchell. "Turnover production holds him back from the top of the group for me. Still an excellent player."

"He holds his own at any position, on the inside or outside," a veteran NFC coach said about DeJean. "He's a corner because of the way he plays. [The Eagles] play a lot of man, and he ain't shying away from nothing. He has the range and speed to play outside all day, too. He's a Swiss Army knife."

Mitchell finished last season with 17 pass deflections, and DeJean has 16 of his own. The 2025 campaign also featured Mitchell allowing a 44.3% completion percentage, while DeJean allowed a passer rating of 75.4.

The rankings feel very low for Mitchell and DeJean, though. They don't seem to be getting as much respect as they deserve.

That AFC executive who criticized Mitchell for the lack of turnovers is not a fair one. Mitchell has four interceptions in five playoff games, and he was only targeted 88 times in 16 games last season, averaging 5.5 targets per game, so he's not getting a lot of action his way.

DeJean being ranked 10th also feels low for what he can do at his position. He can play in the slot, on the outside, and at safety, showing off the versatility that most cornerbacks don't have. DeJean was one of the best tacklers in the NFL from the cornerback position, ensuring that he truly can do it all for the Eagles' defense.

It feels like Mitchell and DeJean are one year away from truly getting the respect they deserve at cornerback. Once they show they can consistently play at an elite level, people around the NFL will make sure they are ranked appropriately.
