NFL standings ordered by turnover differential: One area Eagles can improve

The Eagles have given us little to criticize, but what if they forced a few more turnovers?

Ten wins... This has become familiar territory for the Philadelphia Eagles, and with this roster, most of us thought this was Philly's floor this season. We perused many of the respected platforms for NFL content. Before the season started, the consensus was this team would finish anywhere from 10-7 to 14-3.

Here we sit. The Birds have reached the ten-win plateau with five games remaining in their regular season. Again, we've gotten used to this. Nick Sirianni just keeps on winning.

14 wins during the 2022-23 season resulted in a three-point loss in the Super Bowl. Last season, an 11-6 finish was overshadowed by 'the collapse'.

So, what should we expect this time around?

Here's how all 32 NFL teams stack when ranked based on turnover differential (one of Philly's areas of opportunity).

An impressive winning streak and start has given us little to criticize with this Eagles team. But, trust us when we tell you this. They're self-examining and looking for ways to improve.

That's what's been so exciting. As good as this team is, they still haven't played their best football.

As of late, Philly hasn't given us much to complain about. They could however avoid the slow starts on offense and, maybe, force a few more turnovers on defense.

They just missed recovering two fumbles vs. the Baltimore Ravens. Had they done so, that would have helped them climb this list, a ranking of all 32 teams based on turnover differential.

All teams have played 12 games unless otherwise noted.

1. Buffalo Bills +17
2. Pittsburgh Steelers +15
3. Los Angeles Chargers +11
4. Chicago Bears +10
4. Houston Texans (13 games played) +10
6. Green Bay Packers +9
7. Detroit Lions +8
8. Minnesota Vikings +5
9. Washington Commanders (13 games played) +4
10. Denver Broncos (13 games played) +3
10. Los Angeles Rams +3
10. Philadelphia Eagles +3
13. Baltimore Ravens (13 games played) +2
13. New Orleans Saints +2
15. Arizona Cardinals -1
15. Cincinnati Bengals -1
15. Tampa Bay Buccaneers -1
18. Indianapolis Colts (13 games played) -2
18. Miami Dolphins -2
20. New York Jets -3
20. San Francisco 49ers -3
22. Carolina Panthers -4
22. Kansas City Chiefs -4
24. Atlanta Falcons -6
24. New England Patriots (13 games played) -6
24. Seattle Seahawks -6
27. Dallas Cowboys -7
28. Cleveland Browns -8
28. New York Giants -8
30. Jacksonville Jaguars -9
31. Tennessee Titans -13
32. Las Vegas Raiders -18

Josh Allen was once a turnover machine. He has taken better care of the football. He now appears to be one of Saquon Barkley's top threats to winning the MVP trophy. He has been more efficient and better at managing the games he is playing in.

And, no, we don't use the latter phrase disrespectfully. Good quarterback play and aggressive defense often equal success. Philly has been good on both sides of the ball.

Their defense is top-ranked. Their offense has taken better care of the football than it did at the beginning of the season. We'd like to see the offense maintain course (and start faster).

We'd like to see the defense force a few more turnovers (they've snagged seven interceptions and recovered seven fumbles). The defense will create more scoring opportunities for the offense if they do so. They'd also climb on this list.

Forcing turnovers doesn't always equate to wins, but it never prevents wins from happening. If Philly improves in this area, they'll take an already-impressive defense to supernova.
