Expectations. It's safe to assume they are as high as it gets for the Philadelphia Eagles coming off their second Super Bowl title in eight years. Some don't have them as the top team in the NFL entering the new season, though.

FanSided's Sayre Bedinger shared his first power rankings of the 2025 NFL regular season. The Eagles were actually seen as just the second-best team in the NFL behind the Baltimore Ravens.

"The Philadelphia Eagles did lose quite a bit after winning the Super Bowl last year, but general manager Howie Roseman has that roster reloaded and ready for another shot at it this coming season. When you have the level of roster retention the Eagles had offensively as well as Vic Fangio coaching the defense, how can you not be confident about this team? Losing players like Milton Williams and Josh Sweat on the defensive front is not ideal, but again, the Eagles have obviously been planning on losses like that and have young guys ready to step up."

Are the Ravens truly better than the Eagles in 2025?

The most popular picks for the best team in the NFL have been the Eagles and Ravens. It could be a Super Bowl preview between the two teams, but fans can pretty much guess why some are taking Baltimore over Philly.

Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson is as electric an athlete as there is in the sport. Many argue that he was robbed of an MVP last year when Buffalo Bills signal-caller Josh Allen took home the prize.

Sometimes, knowing how to win is more important. Jalen Hurts has proven himself to be a winner throughout his NFL career. Granted, Jackson is more gifted as a player than Hurts, but when the postseason rolls around, more people would put their fate in the hands of a guy who has been to the Super Bowl twice (Hurts) than someone who hasn't won a conference title (Jackson).

Many in the media are concerned about the Eagles' young defense, even though a lot of those players are returning from last year's number-one unit. Outside of Zack Baun and Reed Blankenship, the rest of the projected starters on the Eagles' defense are 25 years old or under. This is a fast and athletic group of players who are poised to develop into another top unit.

Nothing will be proved in Week 1 as they take on the Dallas Cowboys, but soon enough, the league will realize this Eagles team is not messing around.
