Nick Saban heaps massive praise on Eagles QB Jalen Hurts

Some say he's the greatest coach in college football history. He also once mentored Jalen Hurts. Why wouldn't we listen to what the former has to say about the latter?

Despite where this train takes us and regardless of where it leads us, one thing is certain. We're going to win a lot of games and have a lot of fun as long as Jalen Hurts is the conductor of the Philadelphia Eagles' offense.

You may have heard. He has enjoyed quite the football life already, and here's the best part. He's only 26 years young. He still has time to grow and improve.

The pedigree can't be questioned. Before playing his way into a small fortune, he cut his teeth collegiately at two of the NCAA's most storied programs.

Many would love to have had the opportunity to say they're QB1 of the Alabama Crimson Tide or the Oklahoma Sooners. Jalen can say he's been both.

Recently, one of his former teachers discussed his game, and trust us. You're going to want to know what was said.

Nick Saban, one of the greatest coaches in college football history, offers his take on where Jalen Hurts is in this stage of his development.

Some say the Jalen Hurts we know was birthed out of adversity at Bama. You remember... He was benched during the College Football Playoff National Championship Game.

Tua Tagovailoa found DeVonta Smith deep. The rest, as they say, is history, but the story wasn't finished. It was only beginning.

One year later, Tua got hurt in an SEC Championship Game. Jalen, back in the spotlight, led the Crimson Tide to victory. Hurts transferred to Oklahoma and almost won the Heisman Trophy.

There isn't a single inch of that story that the G.O.A.T. Nick Saban isn't familiar with. He knows Jalen well having been a former tutor.

Ahead of the College Football Playoff's National Championship Game featuring the Notre Dame Fighting Irish and Ohio State Buckeyes, Nick honestly assessed his former pupil.

It's hard to pick any of that apart, and truthfully, when considering the source, why would we? Nick Saban has probably forgotten more about football than most of us will ever know.

We'd never lie to you. Seeing what we've seen from Jalen Hurts so far this postseason makes us nervous. This gives us hope.

We've also seen Jalen conquer adversity time and time again. Nick has seen that to. Maybe that's what he's thinking about. That Jalen has got to be in this Jalen somewhere. If it is, we'd appreciate it if he throws off the Superman cape and makes another appearance.
