Nick Sirianni cites one key thing that's helped Eagles sustain success

This remains paramount.

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni echoed themes he's emphasized several times since taking the reins in 2021 at his press conference: the importance of closeness and accountability to one another.

Following a disheartening end to the team's 2025 campaign and faced with dramatic departures, including longtime offensive line coach Jeff Stoutland and star wideout A.J. Brown, Sirianni knows that continued success will demand open lines of communication and unwavering accountability.

"When you get further up along, and you get successful teams, the Spurs, the Knicks, that common denominator, what they talk about, is how close they are," Sirianni said via
FOX 29 Eagles reporter Gary Cobb. "It's no secret, when teams make it as far as we've made it, as teams make it, championships and things, they talk about how close they are. And because they're close, they can hold each other accountable. We have hard conversations in here every day, practice is evaluated in front of everybody. Not only as an offensive group or as a defensive group, but as a team. So we set that stage as coaches, to say, hey, this is so important, that we're able to have these hard conversations. And then you have really good leaders on our football team that are able to do that. Jalen (Hurts), Saquon (Barkley), Jordan (Mailata), Lane (Johnson), Landon (Dickerson), Zack (Baun), Q (Quinyon Mitchell), Coop (Cooper DeJean), Jalen (Carter), Jordan (Davis) on the defensive side of the ball."

Less drama, more positive communication, should be in store for the Eagles

For Sirianni and the franchise as a whole, it's a rarity to have such strong leadership in place on both sides of the ball. Of the names mentioned, only Barkley and Baun were drafted by other franchises, and each has quickly proven how passionate and selfless they are about leading this team on offense and defense. The core is incredibly strong, and as time marches on, the loss of Brown just might prove to be addition by subtraction given how much of a distraction the sceniaro was causing.

The communication and closeness in this unit were surely strained, given the cryptic tweets and the controversy surrounding the now-former star Eagles wideout.

With Brown no longer in town, the open lines of communication, the positive collective energy, and the closeness that have made this group so special can return to center stage once more.
