Every single thought from the Philadelphia Eagles fan base after the 23-19 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Wild Card game went in one direction: Kevin Patullo being fired.

It was another stunning demonstration of pure confidence from Patullo and the Eagles offense, which had 188 yards in the first half and just 114 in the second. Adding in the fact that they had three three-and-outs in the second half, and 87 of the 114 yards came on the final two drives of the game.

After the loss, Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni addressed the question everyone knew was coming to him: what about Patullo's future in Philadelphia? Sirianni gave the diplomatic answer everyone expected of him, but didn't exactly give Patullo a glowing job review or a vote of confidence.

"Yeah, you know, again, there will be time to evaluate everyone's performance," Sirianni said via 94 WIP's Eliot Shorr-Parks. "Right now, I feel for all our guys in the locker room, all the players, all the coaches the front office, everybody that works so hard, the fans they come out and support us, Mr. Lurie. I just feel for all of them. They'll be time to evaluate everything."

Nick Sirianni mum on Kevin Patullo's future with the Eagles

All season, the offense has continued to look bad when it matters the most in games. From the Dallas Cowboys loss to the Buffalo Bills' win to even the 49ers loss, all have the same thing in common: the offense was non-existent in the second half.

For whatever reason that is completely unknown to the rest of the world, Patullo feels that since the Eagles have the lead, it's time to take the foot off the pedal and just run on first and second down to get behind the sticks on third and long. It has been the same story almost every week, where the offense looks predictable and stale in the last 30 minutes of the game.

Patullo is obviously good at building game plans and getting his team off to strong starts, but as the offensive coordinator, he fails to adjust correctly in the second half. He sticks to the same three to four pass routes, and then he's good to go when they hardly work or make an impact on the game.

Sirianni clearly doesn't want to make the call to fire his friend, but something has to give. Even if Patullo gets demoted and hires a new offensive coordinator, that would be better than the alternative, and letting him keep running this offense into the ground.

It's time for Sirianni to make the right call and get the right man in there to run this once-in-a-generation offense.
