While a lot of Philadelphia Eagles fans aren't feeling particularly great about their team, there might be solace in knowing that they are not entirely out of it for the number one seed in the NFC.

The Eagles are coming off a bad 24-15 loss to the Chicago Bears on Black Friday that dropped them to 8-4 on the season. At least the loss didn't hurt Philly in the NFC East race, as they are still two games ahead of the Dallas Cowboys despite their Thanksgiving Day win over the Kansas City Chiefs.

Philadelphia got some good news as the Carolina Panthers pulled off a massive upset over the Los Angeles Rams, 31-28, dropping the Rams to 9-3 on the season. That was a desperate move that needed to happen if the Eagles wanted to stay in the top seed of the NFC race.

What the NFC playoff picture looks like going into Week 14

Here's the current look at the NFC playoff picture after Week 13 action:

1. Chicago Bears 9-3
2. Los Angeles Rams 9-3
3. Philadelphia Eagles 8-4
4. Tampa Bay Buccaneers 7-5
5. Seattle Seahawks 9-3
6. Green Bay Packers 8-3-1
7. San Francisco 49ers 9-4

Chicago owns the tiebreaker with the Los Angeles Rams since they have the better conference record. The Rams own the tiebreaker in the NFC West over the Seahawks, as they have the better head-to-head record.

For Philadelphia to get back into the number one seed, they would need a lot of help next week, as they need the Bears to lose to the Packers and the Rams to lose to the Arizona Cardinals. The Eagles will face the Los Angeles Chargers on Monday Night Football and need to win.

What's a big advantage for the Eagles is that they beat the Rams back in Week 3, so they own any tiebreaker against the Rams. Philly just has to make sure they don't get in a tiebreaker situation with the Bears, as Chicago would own that.

There is still life for the Eagles to win the top seed in the NFC despite the fact that most fans are more focused on just winning the division first. Things might look back in the City of Brotherly Love with the Eagles, but this team has a chance to close things out and get back on top of the conference before the postseason.
