The Philadelphia Eagles have an elite defense, and there are many thanks to go around. However, one of these Eagles defenders can call himself the best in the league at his position.
It's no secret that Philadelphia Eagles defensive coordinator Vic Fangio has been an absolute godsend to the City of Brotherly Love. The Eagles' defense is not just currently among the best in football; with another deep run or two, they will find themselves among the best of all time.
While Fangio has done his part, so have the players. There's obviously no shortage of studs in the group, and one has shown to stand tall above all else in the league.
Quinyon Mitchell has become the best cornerback in the NFL
While some will be quick to point out the existence of guys like Derek Stingley Jr. of the Houston Texans, an elite player on an elite defense, and, of course, the reigning Defensive Player of the Year, Patrick Surtain of the Denver Broncos. The same that was said for Singley and Houston applies to Surtain and Denver. Christian Gonzalez of the New England Patriots also deserves a shoutout for the trajectory he's on.
Let's look at some facts though as it pertains to Mitchell.
His completion percentage is the lowest in the NFL, hovering between 40-45%, and that's also coming when he's barely thrown at. Not only that, he hasn't allowed a single touchdown all season. The only three cornerbacks to accomplish all that this century? Darrelle Revis, Nnamdi Asomugha (when he was with the Raiders, not the Eagles, obviously), and Stephon Gilmore.
With all that being said, if not for Myles Garrett looking like he can break the sack record, Mitchell would be a runaway favorite for Defensive Player of the Year. Alas, maybe hoisting a different trophy from the podium at the end of another stellar season in Mitchell's career will suffice.

Simply put, the Philadelphia Eagles have the best cornerback in football in Mitchell. Sure, some may disagree, but it's just getting harder and harder to deny, and that is only going to get worse for detractors. If you fight it, then you will be sent to Quinyanomo Bay,
