It's just another day for Philadelphia Eagles fans as they once again have to read up on the dysfunction of the 2025 season and how quarterback Jalen Hurts deserves the blame.

ESPN's Tim McManus and Jeremy Fowler collaborated on an article that detailed the frustrations between the Eagles and Hurts last season. There were sources telling them multiple things, including that Hurts wanted the four vertical routes on the final play of the San Francisco 49ers playoff game, and that, over the years, Hurts has not been willing to change within the offense.

"Difficult conversations continued between Hurts and members of the organization this past season, a team source added. Even members of his inner circle knew Hurts played a part in what went wrong last year and addressed it with him, a source close to Hurts said. Justified or not, there was a level of consternation in pockets of the '25 team dating to the summer. The city was still basking in the championship glow as the Eagles, fresh off their Super Bowl ring ceremony the week before, opened up training camp in July. Beneath the public excitement surrounding the team was an uneasy undercurrent for some internally. A team source at that time described the state of affairs as a "disaster" and indicated Hurts was part of the issue, noting that whatever personality traits had rubbed people the wrong way before had grown since the championship win."

Jalen Hurts receives heavy criticism in latest ESPN article

It should be clear that Hurts, of course, should shoulder some of the blame for last season. Twice during the season, he didn't complete a second-half pass and turned the ball over five times in the loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. The 2025 campaign was not a perfect one for Hurts by any stretch of the imagination.

This ESPN article doesn't really add anything new. There were reports coming out about Hurts' unwillingness to run the football, so, sure, there is probably some truth to them.

Why does the media feel that they have to pile on to a situation that Eagles fans knew wasn't perfect? What about the teams like the New York Giants or Tennessee Titans, who had horrible seasons? Let's hear the behind-the-scenes of their chaotic year.

Eagles fans understand at this point that Hurts is not the perfect quarterback, but come on. Three Pro Bowl selections, 70% winning percentage in the regular season, two Super Bowl appearances, one Super Bowl title, and one Super Bowl MVP. Is the media serious about their continuous effort to publish this guy into the ground?

Hurts is human like the rest of us, but the negativity around him and the Eagles is just getting annoying at this point. It's all the media's fault for doing it, because they know they will get clicks and views. The national media has to move on from the Eagles and Hurts and find another target, because it's getting ridiculous now.
